The most important donor is the EU, which has provided substantial food aid in the wake of recent droughts, as well as funding aid programs. The World Bank is also a major source, as are the Netherlands, Sweden, Germany, France and Italy. Aid donations finance almost all development in Cape Verde, which is one of the least industrialized countries in the world.
